Heuristic Evaluation

As part of the University of Minnesota’s Usability and Human Factors course, we were tasked with performing various usability methods on the Hennepin County Library (HCL) website. HCL functioned as our client for the semester, and all evaluations, tests, and reports were presented to them.

For this project, I used Jakob Neilsen‘s “10 Usability Heuristics for User Interface Design” to guide my evaluation of the HCL “locations” website pages. In researching and writing this heuristic evaluation, I learned how to apply Neilsen’s guidelines and relay both good and bad news to a client.
